[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that all 13 participants obtained national certifications in the 'Drone Utilization Work Personnel National Certification Acquisition Project' to prepare for smart administration using drones.
Recently, the use of drones in the public sector has been increasing, but a lack of operator expertise has been pointed out as an issue.
Accordingly, the city has supported public officials capable of utilizing drones in their work to acquire national certifications.
As a result, 9 participants in the national certification project and 4 participants in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) supervised certification project obtained their certifications.
Going forward, by directly nurturing drone operation experts, the city plans to reduce drone operation budgets and utilize drones in various tasks such as recording video footage, tracking and managing fine dust, and monitoring forest fires.
Meanwhile, the city is promoting the designation of a drone special deregulation zone supervised by MOLIT to foster the drone industry, and is making efforts to be designated as a drone demonstration city next year. Additionally, a drone park will be created to provide citizens with a space where they can freely fly drones.
