Providing Attractions through Nightscape Improvement Projects Including Milky Way Lighting and Media-Utilized Public Sculptures Installation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) transformed Apgujeong Rodeo Street, a "famous spot in Gangnam," into a "Street of Light" on the 1st of this month.
Since May, the district has been carrying out a nighttime landscape improvement project to restore the past fame of Apgujeong Rodeo Street and create a distinctive pedestrian environment, installing public sculptures utilizing media.
At the entrance of the street, a Christmas tree and tree-lined street lights shaped like the Milky Way, along with representative sculptures of the street, provide visual attractions during nighttime hours.
Additionally, to revitalize Apgujeong Rodeo as a tourist attraction, 24 locations along the street have been equipped with chandelier-designed media fa?ades and security lights to assist safe walking.
Earlier, as part of the themed design street creation project, Gangnam-gu installed a "Media Street" in January near Rodeo Street in Cheongdam Hallyu Star Street, broadcasting videos of Hallyu stars through 12 media poles.
A district official said, "We thank the residents who endured inconveniences and actively cooperated during the construction period," adding, "Although these are difficult times due to COVID-19, we hope this elegant nighttime landscape improvement project will bring vitality to Apgujeong Rodeo."
