Geochang-gun Establishes Rapid Alert System for Vehicle Flooding Risk in Riverside Parking Lots

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's support project to establish a rapid alert system for vehicle flooding risk in riverside parking lots, securing a special grant of 125 million won for next year.

The county plans to build a rapid alert system for vehicle flooding risk at the riverside parking lot in Geochang-eup by July 2021, with a total project cost of 250 million won, including 125 million won from the county budget and special grants.

The rapid alert system for vehicle flooding risk installs vehicle number recognition devices, vehicle entry barriers, and management server automatic voice notification facilities. When flooding of vehicles is expected due to typhoons or heavy rain, warning messages are automatically sent to the owner's mobile phone number.

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, "We will efficiently manage the riverside parking lot by installing the rapid alert system for vehicle flooding risk before the rainy season next year to prevent flood damage."

The riverside parking lot in Geochang-eup, Geochang-gun, has seen a total of 21 vehicles lost or flooded over the past 10 years, and this year alone, the parking lot was flooded and closed four times.
