KAI Wins $130 Million Contract for 10-Seat Business Jet Fuselage Structure Project

Top-Class Business Jet... Simultaneous Production of Key Structures Including Wings and Fuselage

KAI Wins $130 Million Contract for 10-Seat Business Jet Fuselage Structure Project

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 15th that it has newly secured an order worth $130 million (approximately 140 billion KRW) for G280 aircraft fuselage parts from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

The G280 is a top-tier 10-seat mid-size business jet, with 200 units delivered as of June. KAI plans to supply the fuselage for this model until 2030.

The order KAI received this time is for a completed fuselage structure just before the aircraft interior work, unlike the previous business which only assembled exterior panels. This is the first time KAI has secured an order for a completed fuselage structure including seat rails.

Previously, KAI signed an exclusive production contract with IAI last year for the entire main wing of the G280 aircraft. With this fuselage structure order, KAI will simultaneously produce the main wing and fuselage, which are key structures of the G280 aircraft.

The G280 fuselage parts will be produced together with small and medium-sized partner companies in the Sacheon region of Gyeongnam Province. Once the dedicated Goseong factory is completed, production facilities will be relocated there and full-scale independent production will commence.
