Dongseo University, '2020 Jang-aein Media Festival' Online and Offline Success 'Likes' Dongseo University's barrier-free musical concert 'PASSION'.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The ‘2020 Disabled Media Festival,’ where people with and without disabilities enjoyed together, concluded successfully as both an online and offline festival.

The festival received positive responses as many citizens could enjoy it without being restricted by time and place due to the simultaneous online and offline format.

Hosted by Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) and Busan Viewer Media Center (Director Kim Bae-eok), and held as part of the Busan City Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project, the Disabled Media Festival took place simultaneously on YouTube and at the Busan Viewer Media Center from the 9th to the 11th over three days.

This year’s festival, held both online and offline, offered a rich variety of attractions. Starting with an open talk show to improve awareness of disabilities, it featured diverse programs such as a barrier-free musical concert, independent films, and radio broadcasts.

All programs were streamed live on YouTube, with subtitles, sign language, and scene descriptions provided so that people with visual and hearing impairments could enjoy them together.

On the 10th, the barrier-free musical concert ‘PASSION’ featured musical stars including diva Hong Ji-min and Dongseo University musical department students, performing familiar songs like Cats and Mamma Mia, receiving great applause from the audience.

Dongseo University operates various programs related to barrier-free initiatives and provides their outcomes annually to the Disabled Media Festival.

The barrier-free Rose Radio, conducted as a visible radio program, also offered modest entertainment. On the 10th and 11th, musical actor and Dongseo University musical department professor Oh Se-jun hosted the radio, with musical actors and Dongseo University musical students participating as panelists, delivering wonderful live performances.

Citizens shared the moments by posting real-time comments and clicking ‘like’ on YouTube.

Offline events to improve awareness of disabilities also increased participants’ interest. The ‘Cinema in the Dark,’ which recreated a movie theater in a darkroom for a perfect dark movie viewing experience, was operated twice daily for pre-registered participants, and barrier-free masks made by Dongseo University fashion design students were exhibited at the Viewer Media Center.

The ‘2020 Disabled Media Festival’ can be watched again on the Busan Viewer Media Center YouTube channel.

Dongseo University has been selected for the ‘Busan City Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project’ for two consecutive years and operates various barrier-free related programs to expand the Busan barrier-free zone and lead culture and arts for people with disabilities.
