‘Beep~ No Illegal Parking’... Gangnam-gu to Implement Illegal Parking Pre-Notification Starting on the 14th

‘The Gangnam’ App and District Office Website Send Mobile Text Warnings to Applicants... Same Service Provided in Yongsan and Jung Districts

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) will implement the ‘Illegal Parking CCTV Enforcement Advance Notification’ service starting on the 14th, which sends text message alerts to drivers who park illegally within enforcement zones.

The ‘Illegal Parking CCTV Enforcement Advance Notification’ service is available only to those who pre-register through the ‘The Gangnam’, ‘Parking Enforcement Notification Service’ apps, or the Gangnam-gu Office website.

With a single registration, users can receive the same service not only within the district but also in Yongsan and Jung-gu. This is the result of prior coordination among local governments to eliminate the inconvenience of having to apply separately for each area.

The district plans to launch a ‘On-foot Enforcement Advance Notification’ service in areas without CCTV in the first half of next year. However, enforcement in absolute no-parking zones such as crosswalks, sidewalks, fire hydrants, bus stops, and school zones, as well as parking enforcement based on the ‘Citizen Report App’, are not covered by this service. Fines will be imposed regardless of whether the service is received if violations occur in these areas.

Eun Seung-il, Head of the Parking Management Division, stated, “We plan to expand the scope of the notification service so that it can be used in other districts in the future,” adding, “We will strive to ensure that both residents and visitors to Gangnam can feel a ‘pleasant change’ through the resolution of illegal parking.”
