[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Despite Donald Trump's refusal to concede the U.S. presidential election, his wife Melania Trump is reportedly preparing to secretly leave the White House, CNN reported on the 9th (local time), citing multiple sources.

According to the report, after leaving the White House, Melania has begun reviewing whether she can be allocated budget or staff. While President Trump is busy finding ways to remain in the White House, Melania is said to be sorting her belongings to send to storage, her residence in New York, and Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

One source said Melania "just wants to go home," and regarding speculation about President Trump's 2024 re-election bid, she holds the view that "it will not go well."

Melania is focusing on preparations to leave Washington DC and is also considering publishing a book, according to a publishing industry official. Former First Ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush also published memoirs. CNN reported that Melania seems interested in a book mainly featuring photos from her time at the White House.

Construction is reportedly underway at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. This is because the Trumps' 14-year-old son Barron plans to finish his studies this year in Florida instead of attending the private school in Maryland he has been enrolled in for the past three years in Washington DC. Citing a resort official, CNN said, "President Trump has not finalized this plan, but Melania has already started sending belongings from the White House and the Trump Tower penthouse in New York to Mar-a-Lago."

However, considering that the Trump family lived in a large Manhattan penthouse, the Mar-a-Lago residence is smaller, making it inevitable to downsize, and it is known that Melania is securing personal space to have her own bedroom and dressing room.

There are various speculations about how President Trump will accept life at Mar-a-Lago. Lawrence Rimmer, who wrote a book about Mar-a-Lago, said, "It will feel like staying at a nice hotel," but added, "Can you imagine Trump sitting there for six months of the year? He will soon feel stifled."
