Soongsil University Appoints Professor Jang Beom-sik as 15th President

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Soongsil University Foundation announced on the 10th that Professor Jang Beom-sik has been appointed as the 15th president.

Born in 1957, the newly appointed President Jang graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in English Education, earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University, and completed a doctoral program in Business Administration at Texas State University. He has been a professor at Soongsil University since 1995. He has served as Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration and the Graduate School of Labor Relations, Vice President for Academic Affairs, President of the Korean Securities Association, and Chairperson of the Financial Development Committee (ministerial level) of the Financial Services Commission.

Currently, he holds positions as Chairman of the Seoul Ivy Forum, Chairperson of the Financial Ombudsman Committee of the Financial Services Commission, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Financial Industry Policy Committee, Outside Director of Samsung Securities, Chairperson of the Investment Management Committee of the Corporate Liquidity Support Organization (SPV) under the Financial Services Commission, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Bank of Korea, and Korea Development Bank, Chairperson of the Fund Management Committee of the Korea Financial Investment Association, Chairperson of the Working Committee of the National Assembly Special Committee on Capital Market Revitalization, Advisor to the KOSDAQ Association, and Public Director of the Korea Financial Investment Association.

His term will be four years, starting from February 1 of next year.
