[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The first snow is expected to fall in Seoul early tomorrow morning (the 10th).

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 9th, between early morning and 9 a.m. on the 10th, rain or snow is expected in Seoul, southern Gyeonggi, and northern Chungnam. Earlier that night, snow will fall in eastern Gyeonggi and the Yeongseo region of Gangwon.

However, the amount of snow is not expected to be significant. In the plains, it is likely to fall as sleet mixed with rain and snow. The expected precipitation is less than 5 mm. In eastern Gyeonggi and northern Yeongseo of Gangwon, where there are many mountains and temperatures are expected to be low, snow accumulation is possible. The expected snowfall is 1 to 3 cm.

On average, the first snow in Seoul has fallen between mid and late November. Last year's first snow was on November 15. The reason the first snow is late this year in Seoul is that cold high pressure did not develop until mid-November. The latest first snow ever recorded in Seoul was on December 31, 1948.

Another snowfall is expected over the weekend. In Seoul and Gyeonggi, it will start on the morning of the 13th (Sunday), and in other regions, it will begin in the afternoon. Jeju and Jeonnam will continue to experience cloudy weather until early next week.
