[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Otek is showing strong performance. The news that the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is rapidly increasing, leading to a shortage of treatment beds, seems to have had an impact.
As of 9:22 AM on the 9th, Otek was trading at 14,900 KRW, up 3.11% (450 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
As of the 6th, the bed occupancy rate at infectious disease specialized hospitals is 79.4% in the metropolitan area and 89.4% in Seoul. Among the 57 beds dedicated to severe patients in Seoul, only 5 are available.
Meanwhile, Otek announced last month that it launched a 'mobile medical and negative pressure ward' that can replace the insufficient negative pressure rooms due to the spread of COVID-19. The Otek Group has Otek, a special vehicle manufacturer such as ambulances, and Carrier Aircon, an air conditioner manufacturer, as subsidiaries. They created a mobile negative pressure ward by utilizing vehicle and air technology.
Otek explained that it is currently in discussions with clients. A company representative said, "We are in talks regarding the supply of negative pressure wards."
