[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] Lee Chae-won, CEO of Korea Value Asset Management and regarded as a leading first-generation value investor in Korea, has tendered his resignation.


According to the investment banking (IB) industry on the 8th, CEO Lee recently expressed his intention to resign to Korea Financial Group. Korea Financial Group is expected to carry out a regular personnel reshuffle reflecting Lee's departure and his successor as early as this week.


Lee Chae-won, considered one of Korea's representative value investors and a first-generation star fund manager, joined Dongwon Securities (now Korea Investment & Securities) in 1988. He served as head of the equities division at Dongwon BNP Asset Management and head of asset management at Korea Investment & Securities. He joined Korea Investment Value Management at its inception in 2006 as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and has served as CEO since the end of 2017.
