Seocho-gu Replaces Old Disabled Parking Zone Signs

Replacement with 52 high-luminance signs installed at 28 locations, visible even at night

Seocho-gu Replaces Old Disabled Parking Zone Signs

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) has begun renovating disabled parking spaces by replacing old signs with ‘high-luminance signs’ that are visible even at night.

The renovation targets a total of 52 signs at 28 locations, including public offices and public parking lots, aiming to ensure mobility convenience for disabled drivers and to prevent illegal parking in disabled parking spaces in advance.

The old disabled parking signs will be replaced with ‘high-luminance signs’ that can be identified by vehicle lights even at night and will be installed in easily visible locations within parking lots.

Disabled parking spaces are designated areas that provide parking convenience for disabled individuals with mobility difficulties and prohibit parking by the general public.

However, many non-disabled people have illegally parked in disabled parking spaces, causing inconvenience to disabled individuals and complaints due to fines. Additionally, the signs have aged, making it difficult to identify disabled parking signs at night, leading to a continuous increase in complaints related to illegal parking enforcement.

The district expects that the newly installed high-luminance signs, made with enhanced reflective performance, will significantly reduce complaints about illegal parking enforcement in disabled parking spaces at night due to poor sign visibility.

Mayor Eunhee Jo stated, “We will do our best to implement practical welfare policies for the disabled, providing convenience and improving welfare so that disabled people can live together in our society by seeing the world through their eyes.”
