Application and Registration for Second Half of the Year School-Outside Youth Transportation Expenses Until the 15th... Supporting Continuous Learning and Dream Fulfillment through Career Exploration and Job Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is accepting applications for second half transportation fee support for out-of-school youth pursuing their dreams until the 15th.
The out-of-school youth transportation fee support project is the first of its kind implemented by a Seoul autonomous district to alleviate the financial burden on out-of-school youth who do not receive public education benefits, enabling them to participate in various programs such as career exploration and job experience.
The eligible applicants are out-of-school youth aged 9 to 18 registered as residents of Gangdong-gu, who have participated in (non-face-to-face) programs at the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center ‘Kkumdeulim’ or Gangdong Youth Nuri Center ‘Haneul-eul Pumneun Baeumteo’ at least twice, or are enrolled in alternative schools or other unlicensed alternative education institutions.
To apply, prepare required documents verifying out-of-school youth status such as resident registration (elementary) certificate, school withdrawal certificate, or non-enrollment certificate, and visit the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center or Gangdong Youth Nuri Center to submit the application.
The support amount for the second half of the year is 50,000 KRW for ages 9 to 12 and 100,000 KRW for ages 13 to 18. The support funds can be charged onto youth ID cards equipped with transportation card functions.
Charging the amount is possible at the Gangdong-gu Youth Support Center or Gangdong Youth Nuri Center where the charging terminals are installed.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “The number of students who stop their studies for various reasons, including difficulty adapting to school, is increasing. We will continue to support out-of-school youth so that they can confidently pursue their dreams without prejudice or discrimination.”
