[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul has remained above 200 for four consecutive days, with the cumulative number of confirmed cases surpassing 10,000 to date.
As of midnight on the 6th, Seoul city announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Seoul area increased by 254 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 10,205.
The daily confirmed cases in Seoul first exceeded 200 on the 25th of last month, reaching 212, then were 204 on the 26th, 178 on the 27th, 58 on the 28th, 159 on the 29th, and 155 on the 30th, showing a decreasing trend. However, the number surged again to 193 on the 1st of this month, then 262 on the 2nd, 295 on the 3rd, 235 on the 4th, and 254 on the 5th, maintaining the 200s for four consecutive days.
Among the confirmed cases on this day, 21 new cases (cumulative 73) were related to Pagoda Town in Jongno-gu, and 15 new cases (cumulative 20) were confirmed related to a sauna in Dongjak-gu. Additionally, 6 new cases (cumulative 18) were linked to a medical institution in Seongdong-gu, 5 new cases (cumulative 105) to Hongdae Saegyo Church in Mapo-gu, 4 new cases (cumulative 25) to an insurance company in Guro-gu, 3 new cases (cumulative 190) to a dance academy in Gangseo-gu, and 3 new cases (cumulative 54) to an exam preparation academy in Dongjak-gu.
Furthermore, additional confirmed cases were reported related to an indoor sports facility II in Jungnang-gu (cumulative 39), sauna II in Seocho-gu (cumulative 77), a hospital in Dongdaemun-gu (cumulative 32), a call center in Yeongdeungpo-gu (cumulative 27), and a performance academy in Gangnam-gu (cumulative 27).
Other cases include 127 individuals who had contact with confirmed patients, 14 who had contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, 1 imported case, and 45 cases under investigation for infection routes.
To date, 6,920 people in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 3,184 are currently in isolation and treatment. The total number of people under self-quarantine is 20,865.
