A man in his 50s was sentenced to prison for sexually harassing and assaulting a female taxi driver while riding on the highway.
[Asia Economy Reporter Nana] A man in his 50s who sexually harassed and assaulted a female taxi driver while riding in a taxi on the highway was sentenced to prison.
The Ulsan District Court announced on the 6th that it sentenced A (54), who was charged with forcible molestation and injury, to 8 months in prison, ordered him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program, and imposed a 5-year employment restriction at child and youth-related institutions.
On May 16 at around 7:30 p.m., A was riding in the front passenger seat of a taxi on the Jungang Expressway in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, when he made sexual remarks such as "I want to love you. Don't you want to love?" to B, a female driver in her 60s, and grabbed her wrist. He then forcibly molested her by putting his arm around her shoulder and touching parts of her body, saying "Let's kiss."
When B stopped the taxi in Yangsan city and tried to report to 112, A attempted to flee. When B tried to stop him, A hit her with his foot and fist, causing injuries requiring two weeks of medical treatment.
The court stated, "The defendant's guilt is serious as he molested and injured the victim inside a moving taxi on the highway," and added, "Even if the victim had agreed, the nature of the crime is severe, and the defendant has multiple prior convictions for violence, making a prison sentence unavoidable."
