[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongnam Province announced on the 5th that it received the Grand Prize in the 'Regional Labor-Management-Government-Civil Cooperation Activation Project Implementation Evaluation.'
This award is given by the Ministry of Labor to discover and reward outstanding metropolitan and local governments nationwide that promote regional labor-management-government-civil cooperation.
The joint laundry for workers' uniforms in Gimhae, which opened nationwide for the first time last November, was cited as a representative case of labor-management-government-civil cooperation in Gyeongnam.
The joint laundry allows workers in small and medium-sized enterprises with unfavorable working conditions to use laundry services at a low cost. The active participation of labor organizations in supporting laundry transport vehicles was also highly evaluated.
Jung Soon-geon, Director of the Provincial Labor Policy Division, said, "Gyeongnam is home to major domestic companies in the machinery, shipbuilding, and aerospace parts industries, where active labor movements take place," adding, "Labor-management-government-civil cooperation is more important than anything else to overcome the COVID-19 crisis."
Meanwhile, the province operated the 'Mobile Workers' Shelter' and the 'Emotional Laborers' Rights Protection Center' in December last year. The signing of the 'Miryang Win-Win Regional Job Agreement' was also recognized as an excellent case of labor-management-government-civil cooperation.
