[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] The rookie uniforms of 'Basketball King' Michael Jordan and former American professional football (NFL) player Colin Kaepernick were sold at record prices in an online auction.

According to CNN on the 4th (local time), in an online auction hosted by auction house Julien's Auction, the uniform top that Jordan raised at the press conference on the day he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1984 was sold for $320,000 (approximately 347.5 million KRW).

According to the organizers, this is the highest price ever paid for a Jordan uniform top. The previous record was the uniform top Jordan wore during the 1997-1998 Eastern Conference Finals, which was sold for $288,000 (approximately 313 million KRW) last July.

In the same auction, the uniform top of former NFL player Colin Kaepernick was sold for $128,000 (approximately 139 million KRW). The item sold was the uniform top he wore when he debuted with the San Francisco 49ers in 2011, marking the highest auction price ever for an NFL player uniform.

Meanwhile, in the same auction, a basketball uniform top worn by former U.S. President Barack Obama when he was in high school was sold for $192,000 (approximately 208.5 million KRW). This set a new record for the highest auction price for a high school basketball uniform top. The previous highest price for a high school player uniform was worn by active NBA player LeBron James, which sold for $187,500 (approximately 203.6 million KRW) last year.
