[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] BJ Cheolgu has become the center of controversy for disparaging the late Park Ji-sun and comedian Park Mi-sun, and his wife, BJ Oejilhye, responded by saying, "It will calm down anyway. No matter what, we live well and eat well," drawing fierce criticism from netizens.
On the 4th, Oejilhye conducted a live broadcast on AfreecaTV. During the broadcast, questions from netizens about her husband Cheolgu, who recently caused a stir with inappropriate remarks, followed. In response, Oejilhye told the netizens, "Stop acting foolish. I said Park Mi-sun."
She continued, "They are trying to do something no matter what, but no matter what, we live well and eat well. Don’t make baseless accusations. People say it’s a big deal, but it’s okay. If my broadcast gets suspended, I’ll just take a break, and I will continue broadcasting, so I can take the heat for that provocation."
Regarding Cheolgu appearing on the real-time search rankings that day, she responded, "How do you control the real-time search? It will calm down anyway."
During the broadcast, Oejilhye showed a somewhat agitated attitude while mentioning the controversy and continued to argue with netizens.
Earlier, on the 3rd, during a live broadcast on AfreecaTV, Cheolgu caused controversy by saying "Park Ji-sun is XX" after BJ Aegyo-yong said he resembled Hong Rok-gi. When viewers protested, he dodged by saying he was referring to Park Mi-sun, but protests continued with comments like "Is it okay if it’s Park Mi-sun?"
In response, Park Mi-sun posted a photo of an article related to Cheolgu on Instagram the next day, criticizing, "Who are you? Before criticizing my appearance, look in the mirror first. I’ve been through all sorts of things in life. Think before you speak; you have a brain."
The post has since been deleted.
Netizens are reacting with the phrase "Bu-chang-bu-su" (a Korean proverb meaning "like husband, like wife") toward the wife’s stance, which seems to defend rather than reflect on the wrongdoing.
