[Asia Economy Reporter Nah Han-ah] Famous internet broadcaster (BJ) Cheolgu (real name Lee Ye-jun, 31) sparked controversy by making remarks that seemed to belittle the appearances of comedian the late Park Ji-sun and Park Mi-sun. In response, his mother said, "To those who are cursing, have you never made mistakes in your life?"
Cheolgu's mother, who has been running the YouTube channel 'Cheolgu Mom' since last October, posted a video titled "Cheolgu's Mischievous Childhood Stories That Even Auntie Knew - Stories Even Auntie Knew" on that day.
However, regardless of the video's content, netizens who heard Cheolgu's disparaging remarks about the deceased left critical comments on the YouTube video run by Cheolgu's mother.
In the comment section of the video, when a netizen wrote, "Your son (Cheolgu) really has a sharp tongue," Cheolgu's mother responded first with an apology, saying, "Cheolgu has done something wrong again. I am sorry."
She added, "I will take the blame for the insults. But I hope those who are cursing take the opportunity to ask their close acquaintances at least once whether they have lived without making mistakes."
Earlier, on the 3rd, during an internet live broadcast, when another BJ said about his appearance, "You look like Hong Rok-gi," Cheolgu responded, "Park Ji-sun, please go away."
Facing fierce criticism from netizens for disparaging the deceased, Cheolgu immediately clarified, "I meant to talk about Park Mi-sun, not Park Ji-sun," but as the criticism did not stop, he apologized again, saying, "I am very sorry for speaking thoughtlessly."
Meanwhile, Cheolgu, a former professional gamer, has been active as a BJ on AfreecaTV after retiring, and has been involved in several controversies due to inappropriate language and behavior.
