[Asia Economy Reporter Nahana] A jeweler in India has set a Guinness World Record for 'the most diamonds on a single ring' by creating a ring with 12,638 diamonds.
According to AFP on the 5th, jeweler Renani Jewel from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India, crafted a ring with 12,638 diamonds on the 30th of last month.
The previous Guinness record in this category was a ring that used 7,801 diamonds.
The new record-breaking ring weighs 165.45g and contains 38.08 carats of natural diamonds. It is large enough to cover more than half of the back of the hand in a flower shape, with each petal uniquely designed.
The ring was named the 'Marigold diamond ring.' Marigold is a plant in the chrysanthemum family, also known as cheonsuguk or mansuguk. In India, marigold is considered a plant that brings prosperity and good fortune to everyone's life.
The jeweler and designer Hasit Bansal (25), who made the ring, said, "I got the idea while studying jewelry design two years ago in Surat, the hub city of Indian diamonds," adding, "My goal has always been to use more than 10,000 diamonds."
Designer Bansal stated that there are no plans to sell the ring because it is priceless. He said, "I have received inquiries from people wanting to buy the ring, but I declined," adding, "There are no immediate plans to sell it. It is a matter of pride."
