[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Jun-pyo raised his voice, demanding that his reinstatement issue be decided by a vote of all party members.
On the 4th, Hong said on Facebook, "Whether a party member joins or rejoins the party is a decision for the party members, not something a few lawmakers decide based on personal feelings."
He added, "If all party members vote on my reinstatement issue, I will gladly accept it, and if the members reject it, I will seek another path. Also, since party members currently distrust the leadership, I urge that a vote of all party members be held to decide on the leadership's confidence."
Hong said, "It has already been six months since an appointed leadership, not elected by party members, has been active. Now, they should gain the trust of the members to legitimately lead the crucial Seoul and Busan mayoral by-elections. I did not expect the path back to my home to be this difficult."
