Daegu Urban Railroad Installs Air Purifiers on All Trains... "Subway Fine Dust Levels Lowest Nationwide"

Two units installed per car on Line 1 trains, installation on Line 2 planned for next year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation (DTRO, President Hong Seung-hwal) announced on the 4th that it has installed air purifiers on all trains of Line 1 with a budget of 1.4 billion KRW and began full operation from the 30th of last month.

The air purifiers were installed two units per train car, totaling 408 units. There are 34 train sets operating on Line 1, each consisting of 6 cars. Installation on all trains of Line 2 (30 train sets) is scheduled to be completed next year.

The air purifiers installed this time are products that have applied for a patent for the railway vehicle cabin air quality improvement system and have received KC certification. They can remove ultrafine dust particles as small as 0.3㎛, making the air quality inside the cabins more pleasant, according to DTRO.

Prior to this, the corporation installed 1,495 air purifiers (25 units per station) in the waiting rooms and platforms of all 61 stations on Lines 1 and 2 to improve air quality in stations and underground tunnels, and is currently installing 60 bi-directional electrostatic precipitators in the underground tunnels.

Thanks to these combined efforts of air purifiers in trains, stations, and tunnels, the corporation maintains one of the lowest fine dust concentrations nationwide (below 50㎍/㎥).
