Jangheung Farmers' Grand Festival Held Indoors Due to COVID-19

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Farmers' Solidarity of Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Executive Director Kim Jae-gi) announced on the 4th that it held the Jangheung Farmers' Grand Festival on the 3rd.

The Jangheung Farmers' Grand Festival is an event for farmer exchange and harmony in towns and townships held annually to commemorate Farmers' Day, organized by a coalition of 10 agricultural-related organizations (including the Jangheung-gun Eco-friendly Federation and 9 other organizations).

This year, one outstanding elderly agricultural contributor aged 80 or older was awarded from each town and township, totaling 10 recipients. The achievements recognized include contributions to income increase and agricultural development, and playing a leading role in advancing agriculture.

The awardees are Hwang Jong-gil from Jangheung-eup, Noh Young-seon from Gwansan-eup, Yoon Bong-gyu from Daedeok-eup, Kim Young-nam from Yongsan-myeon, Lim Mae-su from Anyang-myeon, Lee Woon-gi from Jangdong-myeon, Ma Kyung-hwan from Jangpyeong-myeon, Moon Hak-rae from Yuchi-myeon, Kim Yoo-jik from Busan-myeon, and Lim Gil-jun from Hoejin-myeon.

Kim Jae-gi, Executive Director of the Farmers' Solidarity, said, “This year, farmers faced many difficulties due to reduced production and disasters, but I am glad that we could hold this small-scale event to boost pride as farmers.” He added, “I hope that next year, with the end of COVID-19, we can prepare a gathering with more farmers.”
