Event at 'Antenna Shop' in Lotte Mart Junggye Branch until the 9th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 4th that it will hold a red snow crab tasting event and sell related products such as crab shell sauce, crab meat, and snow crab seaweed at the 'Excellent Seafood Antenna Shop' set up at Lotte Mart Junggye Branch in Seoul for one week until the 9th.
The event, which started on the 3rd, was organized to open sales channels for red snow crab fishing households and related processing companies struggling due to blocked exports to Japan and decreased domestic sales caused by COVID-19.
According to Gyeongbuk Province, during the pilot sale held on the 28th of last month, 45 boxes were completely sold out as soon as the doors opened, confirming that the products are also popular among Seoul residents.
The red snow crab is similar in appearance to the snow crab, named for its legs extending from the body that have bamboo-like joints, but it is called 'Bulggeundaege' or 'Hongge' because of its red color. It lives at depths of 700 to 1200 meters and is a high-protein, low-calorie food rich in protein, calcium, minerals, and chitosan.
Kim Seong-hak, Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "We will continue to strive to develop various sales channels such as department stores to resolve the difficulties faced by small and medium-sized seafood processing companies in the province and to support marketing of excellent seafood."
Meanwhile, since 2018, 37 excellent seafood companies from Gyeongbuk have been operating in the 'Gyeongbuk Excellent Seafood Antenna Shop' at Lotte Mart Seoul Junggye Branch, showcasing over 280 items. An antenna shop refers to a strategic store established to understand consumer preferences and responses.
