Suncheon City to Host Trot Musical 'Suncheon Sonyeo Sidae' Performance

"Did We Not Know Writing, or Life?" The Tumultuous Life Stories of Grandmother Writers

Suncheon City to Host Trot Musical 'Suncheon Sonyeo Sidae' Performance

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) has prepared the creative musical "Suncheon Girls' Generation," which composes the tumultuous life stories of girls who could not learn to read and write until they became grandmother writers into trot music.

This performance is based on the lives of grandmother writers who knew neither writing nor painting, portraying the regrets and sorrows, aspirations and challenges, and women's emotions of living illiterate in poverty and patriarchal customs in a calm manner.

The performance will be held once daily from the 17th to the 20th at the Suncheon City Culture and Health Center Multipurpose Hall. Admission is 10,000 KRW for all seats and tickets can be reserved on the Culture N Ticket website until one day before the scheduled performance date.

The city plans to ensure citizen safety by strictly adhering to social distancing performance venue rules such as spacing seats, disinfecting, temperature checks, and self-questionnaire completion due to COVID-19. All visitors entering the venue must wear masks, and entry will be denied if masks are not worn.

A Suncheon City official stated, "We hope this performance will provide a small comfort to citizens weary from the prolonged COVID-19 situation, and it will be presented to the entire nation through the 7th Korea Lifelong Learning Expo next year."

Meanwhile, if social distancing is raised due to worsening COVID-19 conditions, the performance will be held as a non-face-to-face, no-audience event. For more details about the performance, please contact the Suncheon City Lifelong Education Division.
