‘Namwon Chueotang’ Selected for Jeonbuk Province Regional Local Resource Industrialization Project Competition

‘Namwon Chueotang’ Selected for Jeonbuk Province Regional Local Resource Industrialization Project Competition

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 4th that Namwon Chueotang was selected in the 2021 Regional Local Resource Industrialization Project contest hosted by Jeonbuk Province.

The Jeonbuk Province Regional Local Resource Industrialization Project is a program that supports the convergence and industrialization of previously selected local industry promotion projects, regional strategic food projects, or regionally specialized items discovered by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, enabling a second phase of leap growth.

The city applied for this contest to upgrade the Namwon Chueotang Brand Promotion Project, which was selected and promoted in 2009 under the local industry promotion project hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and was recognized by Jeonbuk Province as a representative local resource of the Namwon area, securing a project budget of 500 million KRW for two years starting next year.

To solve the biggest problem of the Namwon Chueotang Brand Promotion Project, which was the production issue of Namwon-sourced mudfish, the city has continuously worked on research for mass production technology of mudfish through the Mudfish Cultivation Team at the Agricultural Technology Center after the project.

In particular, by completing the technology for mass cultivation of mudfish without water exchange, the city applied for this contest to support the further leap and growth of Namwon Chueotang, a regional local resource.

Through this Regional Local Resource Industrialization Project, along with completing the technology for mass production of mudfish without water exchange, plans include improving the productivity of mudfish and dried radish greens, processing convenient Chueotang and dried radish greens, strengthening marketing support and promotion for Chueotang restaurants, and linking with existing local resources such as Chueo Village to revitalize experiential tourism and industrialize Namwon Chueotang as a convergence industry.

The head of the Field Support Division at the Agricultural Technology Center said, “We will actively support Namwon Chueotang, a representative local resource of the Namwon area, so that it does not remain merely a local food but establishes itself as an industry leading regional vitality.”
