Minister Kim Hyun-mi Replaced at Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport... President Moon's Cabinet Reshuffle of Four Ministries (Update)

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport: Byeon Changheum, Minister of the Interior and Safety: Jeon Haecheol, Minister of Health and Welfare: Kwon Deokcheol, Minister of Gender Equality and Family: Jeong Yeongae

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in reshuffled four ministries on the 4th, including replacing Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi.


Jung Man-ho, Senior Secretary for Public Communication at the Blue House, announced the reshuffle of four ministries?Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Ministry of Gender Equality and Family?at the Chuncheon Press Center on the afternoon of the 4th.


Byun Chang-heum, President of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), was nominated as the new Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Nominee Byun graduated from Daegu Neungin High School and Seoul National University’s Department of Economics. He has served as a professor in the Department of Public Administration at Sejong University, director of the Korea Urban Research Institute, and president of Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH).

Jeon Hae-cheol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, was nominated as Minister of the Interior and Safety. Nominee Jeon graduated from Masan High School in Gyeongnam and Korea University Law School. He served as Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs at the Blue House during the Roh Moo-hyun administration. A former lawyer, he has served as a member of the 19th and 20th National Assembly and as a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party.


Kwon Deok-cheol, President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, was nominated as Minister of Health and Welfare. Nominee Kwon graduated from Jeonra High School in Jeonbuk and Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Public Administration. He passed the 31st Administrative Examination and has held positions such as Director of Health and Medical Policy, Director of Planning and Coordination, and Vice Minister at the Ministry of Health and Welfare.


Jung Young-ae, Director of the Korea Women's Foundation, was nominated as Minister of Gender Equality and Family. She graduated from Jinmyeong Girls' High School in Seoul and Ewha Womans University’s Department of Sociology. She has served as Senior Secretary for Balanced Personnel Affairs and Senior Secretary for Personnel at the Blue House, as well as Vice President of Seoul Cyber University.


The Blue House plans to proceed with the appointment process after the nominees for the four ministerial positions undergo confirmation hearings in the National Assembly.
