He has extensive clinical experience and has served as president of the Asia-Pacific Cervical Spine Society and the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society. He is approaching retirement next year after completing his terms as medical director and vice president of Yonsei University Medical Center.
While serving at Yonsei University College of Medicine, Professor Yoon gained a reputation as an authority in spinal surgery by presenting research achievements at various academic societies. He actively exchanges and maintains close relationships with renowned doctors worldwide.
An L&K Biomed official said, "If Professor Yoon’s experience and expertise meet L&K Biomed’s research infrastructure, it will accelerate the development of new spinal implants." He added, "We will develop products that lead overseas markets by utilizing the network of doctors in the U.S. and worldwide that Professor Yoon built during his tenure."
Professor Yoon said, "The domestic medical staff and hospital facilities have reached a level recognized worldwide," adding, "Not only has a significant portion of pharmaceuticals and medical devices been successfully localized, but they have also secured sufficient competitiveness in the global medical market."
He continued, "There has been remarkable progress in domestic medical device companies in the field of neurosurgical spinal surgery, where I have been involved for over 30 years," but added, "It is still a reality that the usage rate of products from global companies in the U.S. and Europe remains high."
Professor Yoon expressed, "I feel regretful that domestic medical device companies have development capabilities but lack competitiveness in overseas markets," and said, "I joined L&K Biomed as a technical advisor with the hope of contributing to the development of domestic medical device companies."
L&K Biomed develops various spinal medical equipment technologies and produces spinal implant products used in the treatment of spinal diseases. It is a medical specialist company that sells products overseas, including in the U.S. It has a spinal fusion system that produces products applicable to the entire spine, including the cervical and lumbar regions. The company expects its growth rate to accelerate in response to market changes with the increasing elderly population and the rise of degenerative spinal diseases.
