Violinist Jeong Kyung-hwa and Pianist Kim Sun-wook Duo Concert at Seoul Arts Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Violinist Jung Kyung-wha and pianist Kim Sun-wook will hold a duo concert at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall on the 18th.
This is the first time Jung Kyung-wha and Kim Sun-wook will perform together. They plan to play the three violin sonatas left by Brahms.
Jung Kyung-wha is a first-generation Korean classical violinist who has long stood at the top of the global stage. Over the past 40 years, she has recorded all major violin pieces and released 33 full-length albums. In particular, her 1987 album of Brahms' complete violin sonatas was globally acclaimed and honored with the Diapason d'Or award. Jung Kyung-wha has shown a deep affection for Romantic music, characterized by her captivating tone and intimate tension. Last year, she also performed a complete tour of Brahms' violin sonatas with pianist Kevin Kenner.
Kim Sun-wook is also a pianist who has expressed a special affection for Brahms' music. In September last year, he released a live recording of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1, performed at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall with the German Dresden Staatskapelle and conductor Chung Myung-whun.
This performance is expected to be meaningful as it marks the meeting of a first-generation senior performer in the Korean classical music scene and a young junior pianist. The age difference between the two is 40 years. Kim Sun-wook has called himself a longtime fan of Jung Kyung-wha, saying he nurtured his dreams listening to her albums since childhood.
Following the Seoul Arts Center, Jung Kyung-wha and Kim Sun-wook will continue their duo concert with the same pieces at the Seongnam Arts Center on the 20th.
