[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 4th that it will operate the shared electric bicycle service 'Ilecle' in the 3rd and 4th living zones as well.
The areas where shared electric bicycles will be stationed include Boram, Sodam, and Bangok-dong. Residents in these areas will be able to rent and return shared electric bicycles starting from the 4th.
Earlier, the city signed a business agreement with Nine to One Co., Ltd. in September last year and introduced 200 Ilecle bicycles in the 1st and 2nd living zones. Ilecle has established itself as a representative local transportation aid and leisure culture for short-distance travel and riding near Lake Park, Sejong Central Park, and the National Arboretum.
In fact, the number of Ilecle users and rides increased from an average of 3,326 users and about 62,000 rides per month from September to December last year to an average of 4,377 users and 186,000 rides per month from January to October this year, showing activation.
In addition, by introducing 200 more Ilecle bicycles in the 3rd and 4th living zones, the city expects the use of shared electric bicycles in the region to become more active. The city plans to consider adding more Ilecle bicycles in newly settled areas such as the 6th living zone and near Geumgang Pedestrian Bridge according to demand.
Ilecle can be used after installing the Ilecle app on a smartphone.
Lee Sang-ok, head of the city's Transportation Division, said, "With continuous expansion and maintenance of bicycle infrastructure and plans to promote usage, we will make Sejong a world-class bicycle-friendly city."
