Photo Contest Featuring Residents' Voluntary Snow Removal Activities... Online and Offline Submissions Accepted Until March 15
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is holding a 'Snow Shoveling Certification Photo Contest.'
Guro-gu announced on the 4th that "to encourage residents' voluntary participation in snow removal and to spread the culture of clearing snow around their surroundings, we are conducting a certification photo event."
The contest targets photos capturing scenes of snow being cleared in front of one's house, store, sidewalks, alleys, etc. However, areas outside the district or places that are not public roads, such as inside apartment complexes, are excluded.
The submission period is until March 15 next year, and participants can upload photos with a brief description on the district office website's submission board. (JPG files with a resolution of 300dpi or higher) If online registration is difficult, printed photos can be submitted directly to the district office's Road Division or the local community center.
Guro-gu plans to select and award one grand prize winner, three excellence award winners, five encouragement award winners, and ten effort award winners through judging. Winners will receive cultural gift certificates worth a total of 950,000 KRW.
Additionally, Guro-gu is recruiting volunteers to promote residents' participation in snow removal. Anyone can apply through each community center or the 1365 Volunteer Portal, and volunteer hours will be recognized after snow removal activities.
Seventeen religious institutions in the area have also signed snow removal agreements. The district office supports snow removal materials and tools, and the religious institutions autonomously carry out snow removal on nearby roads.
Designated snow removal helpers in each neighborhood carry out activities such as stocking and managing snow removal equipment and encouraging neighbors to clear snow.
Guro-gu has also established a comprehensive winter plan to minimize residents' inconveniences caused by various disasters such as COVID-19, heavy snowfall, and severe cold. The plan covers seven areas: snow removal, cold wave response, accident prevention, health management, fire prevention, resolving daily inconveniences, and protecting vulnerable groups.
A Guro-gu official said, "We are making every effort to implement snow removal measures to create a safe road environment during the winter season," and added, "We ask residents to actively participate in clearing snow around their surroundings."
