Yongsan-gu, Recruiting Participants for Safe Job Project in the First Half of 2021

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) is recruiting participants for the first half of 2021 Safe Job Project (formerly Public Work Project) until the 11th.

The project period is from January 11 to June 30 next year, with 42 operating projects. A total of 129 people will be selected.

Main project details include ▲ COVID-19 quarantine management support within the partially opened area of Yongsan Park ▲ comprehensive administrative town visitor management for COVID-19 prevention ▲ traditional market quarantine and environmental maintenance ▲ promotion and guidance on mask-wearing at large distribution facilities, among others.

These are mainly projects aimed at preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Residents who wish to participate should bring an application form, consent form for collection, use, and provision of personal information, job registration certificate, copy of health insurance card, resident registration certificate, and ID card to the local community service center.

Related forms are available at the community service centers and can also be downloaded from the announcement/notice section on the district website.

Eligibility requirements are Yongsan-gu residents aged 18 or older as of the project start date who are ▲ unemployed or daily workers without regular income and have registered for job seeking ▲ or those certified as homeless by an administrative agency or an agency recognized by an administrative agency.

Recipients of livelihood or unemployment benefits, those whose combined family assets exceed 200 million KRW, those with regular income exceeding 65% of the median income, or their spouses are not eligible to participate in the project.

The district selects candidates considering project-specific qualification (preference) conditions, applicants’ assets, household income, and public job project participation period. Results will be individually notified on the 24th.

A district official said, “Please be sure to write the desired project number when filling out the application form,” and “Applicants eligible for additional points such as persons with disabilities, multicultural families, and female heads of households must also submit related documents.”

Working conditions are based on a 5-day workweek with up to 6 hours per day. The wage is 53,000 KRW per day (for 6 hours of work), and some specialized personnel may receive 55,000 KRW. An additional 5,000 KRW for incidental expenses is provided separately. Weekly and annual leave allowances are also paid.

Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “The employment market has completely frozen due to COVID-19,” and “The district will do its best to create public jobs.”
