Dobong-gu Mayor Lee Dong-jin Presents at Webinar on 'Learning City Cluster for Health and Well-being' Video of Lee Dong-jin, Dobong District Mayor, presenting a case study on health and well-being education on the 3rd

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) attended a webinar hosted by Cork County, Ireland, on the 3rd and 4th, presenting innovative and practical best practices of learning cities that support citizens' health and well-being.

The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) is an international policy-oriented network launched by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), supporting member cities to share lifelong learning cases and develop strategies.

This webinar was a thematic forum of the ‘Health and Well-being, Education for All’ cluster, one of the seven thematic clusters established as part of the GNLC strategy. It provided an opportunity to examine various responses of learning cities during the COVID-19 pandemic and to discuss and reflect on the roles that learning cities should play.

The first webinar held on the 3rd began with a keynote speech by UIL Director David Atchoarena, followed by case presentations and Q&A sessions from 10 cities including Dobong-gu, and sub-theme workshops conducted in English, French, and Korean.

The second webinar on the 4th will include an opening address and thematic presentation by UIL Director-General Raul Valdes Cotera, case presentations and Q&A from five cities, panel discussions with five panelists and Q&A, as well as sub-theme workshops conducted in three languages.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “Just as COVID-19 has changed people’s daily lives, I believe new approaches are required in lifelong learning. We will continuously explore lifelong learning models suitable for the post-COVID era together with GNLC member cities.”
