Songpa-gu District Newsletter 'Songpa Sosik' Awarded Minister of Employment and Labor Prize Promotional materials such as Songpa-gu urban brand tourism souvenirs and the Songpa newsletter

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has been honored with an award for the fourth consecutive year at the ‘2020 Korea Communication Awards’.

Hosted by the Korea Corporate Communication Association and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the ‘Korea Communication Awards’ is a ceremony that selects outstanding communication media across national institutions, corporations, and organizations.

In this evaluation, Songpa-gu achieved a remarkable feat by sweeping four categories, including winning the Minister of Employment and Labor Award in the ‘Printed Newsletter Public Sector’ through its district newsletter ‘Songpa Sosik’.

Songpa Sosik is a district newsletter boasting a long history since its inception in 1988, with a total of 570 issues published. Notably, it transformed from the traditional newspaper format to a booklet-style newsletter this year, attracting much attention. It delivers rich reading material with a sophisticated photo-book style design and diverse content.

The 36-page newsletter carefully includes ▲themed feature articles ▲priority projects ▲COVID-19 support measures ▲job policies and job seeker/employer information ▲education and culture ▲administrative information, all essential information for residents’ daily lives.

In particular, it consistently features employment and start-up information for various social groups, introduces online employment support programs and local job support facilities through feature articles, contributing to alleviating employment difficulties amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Building consensus through resident participation also drew attention. News from our neighborhoods delivered by 27 honorary reporters, various administrative service experience essays, and other resident participation sections added vividness from the residents’ perspective.

Additionally, the district proved its dominance in the promotion field by winning the ‘Best Identity Design Award’ in the identity design category for the newly declared city brand and character pledging a new leap in the 7th local government term, the ‘Excellence Award’ and ‘Korea Advertising & Public Relations Association President’s Award’ in the publication category for the comprehensive district promotion booklet ‘Colorful Songpa, Dynamic Songpa,’ and the ‘National Assembly Future Policy Research Group Representative Member Award’ in the blog and cafe category for the Songpa-gu Office’s official blog.

Mayor Park Seong-su of Songpa-gu stated, “In the rapidly changing era of coexistence with COVID-19, communication with residents has become more important than ever,” and added, “We will continue to approach residents’ daily lives more closely through various communication channels and trendy content.”
