[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seoul Facilities Corporation (Chairman Seongil Jo) received the Prime Minister's Commendation in recognition of its contribution to electrical safety management at the '2020 Korea Electrical Safety Awards' event hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The 2020 Korea Electrical Safety Awards, held for the 23rd time this year, aim to discover and reward individuals with outstanding achievements in preventing electrical disasters and managing electrical safety, boosting the morale of electrical safety workers and organizations.
The commendation for electrical safety management is awarded by the government to organizations with clear contributions to the development and dissemination of electrical safety technologies, expansion of renewable energy operations, and prevention of electrical disasters. Seoul Facilities Corporation was honored with the Prime Minister's Commendation.
Seoul Facilities Corporation has set its mission as "Creating a Better Seoul Where People and the City Coexist," firmly establishing a safety management system and striving to do its best in each business area as a specialized facility management public enterprise.
In particular, it has promoted safety management by upgrading disaster and safety management systems, such as making the safety-dedicated organization directly under the head of the institution and operating the Safety Management Committee. It has also contributed actively to national power supply stabilization by implementing government policies on energy use rationalization through the distribution and operation of 33 renewable energy (solar power) sites, continuous replacement of high-efficiency LED lighting fixtures, and participation in the demand response market.
Additionally, it was recognized for achievements such as regularly conducting electrical equipment safety inspections, timely replacement of aging electrical equipment, utilizing 4th industrial revolution technologies like AI and IoT, establishing a remote monitoring system for traffic information facilities, and operating an intelligent disaster system based on thermal imaging of utility tunnels, achieving zero electrical accidents.
Furthermore, Seoul Facilities Corporation has formed a technical volunteer group of facility management experts (Hanul Volunteer Corps) to steadily carry out technical volunteer work every year, such as replacing electrical facilities for vulnerable groups and improving residential environments, actively contributing to the prevention of electrical safety accidents in the local community.
Seongil Jo, Chairman of Seoul Facilities Corporation, said, "This award is thanks to our employees who diligently perform their duties at every site," adding, "We will continue to implement citizen-centered safety management more thoroughly, actively utilize 4th industrial revolution new technologies, and do our best in all tasks to make Seoul a happy city for its citizens."
Seoul Facilities Corporation was also selected as the top facility management corporation among metropolitan and provincial local governments for two consecutive years and awarded the 'Grade A (Highest)' institution in the 2020 local public enterprise management evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
