[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] The Muan County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Kim Dae-hyun) announced on the 3rd that it has concluded the regular session schedule, which lasted 24 days from the 10th of last month, with the 9th plenary session of the 268th regular meeting.

At the 9th plenary session held that day, a total of six agenda items were processed, including four consent items such as the private consignment agreement for the child care support project, the partial amendment ordinance of the Muan County management plan ordinance, and the 2021 revenue and expenditure budget plan.

During this regular session, matters related to the overall work of the executive branch were addressed, including listening to the executive's report on next year's work plan, questions on county administration issues, review of ordinances, and examination of the 2021 main budget, with a total of 37 agenda items processed.

Earlier, from the 27th of last month, the Budget and Accounts Special Committee (Chairman Assemblyman Park Seong-jae) held a four-day session to cut 1,055 million KRW from the main budget submitted by the executive branch due to overestimation or unnecessary expenses, and the final review plan was amended and approved at the plenary session that day.

Accordingly, next year's Muan County budget was finalized at 592.1 billion KRW, an increase of 1.94% compared to this year's main budget of 519 billion KRW.

During the two-day county administration questions held on the 1st and 2nd, all assembly members except the chairman took part to diagnose problems and suggest reasonable alternatives regarding major issues directly related to people's livelihoods, such as agriculture and rural issues and residential environment improvement.

In particular, this regular session attracted much attention due to the active legislative activities of the assembly members. A total of 22 ordinances were processed during this session, of which 10 were proposed by the assembly members.

This is the highest number in a single session in the history of the Muan County Council, and all these ordinances were approved as originally proposed at the 2nd plenary session held on the 13th of last month.

Chairman Kim Dae-hyun said in his closing remarks, “I thank my fellow assembly members who worked hard to review various agenda items and budgets, and the public officials who cooperated to ensure the smooth progress of the regular session,” adding, “Let us all work together as members of the local community so that the coming new year can be the first year of overcoming COVID-19 and making a fresh leap forward.”

Meanwhile, the Muan County Council plans to convene the 269th extraordinary session in mid-this month to process the 5th supplementary budget plan and ordinances.
