Mando-SK Rent-a-Car Join Hands for Smart Maintenance Service Collaboration Using IoT Data

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Mando is partnering with SK Rent-a-Car to develop an advanced predictive maintenance service based on real-time vehicle operation data.

On the 2nd, Mando announced on the 3rd that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a smart maintenance service business collaboration using Internet of Things (IoT) data with SK Rent-a-Car at the Mando R&D Center in Pangyo.

The two companies will develop an advanced 'Predictive Maintenance' service based on real-time vehicle operation data. Through this, customers will be able to receive advance notifications about parts replacement and inspection timing, enabling more effective vehicle maintenance services compared to the existing mileage-based maintenance services, Mando explained.

They also plan to refine safety driving evaluation indices based on the 'Vehicle Dynamics' model. By analyzing driver tendencies and vehicle conditions, the goal is to promote safe driving and contribute to traffic accident prevention.

Starting next month, the two companies will conduct a proof of concept (PoC) targeting some long-term rental vehicles. SK Rent-a-Car will provide vehicle driving data collected through IoT devices to Mando, and Mando will analyze the operation of vehicle parts and driving profiles of vehicles in operation to diagnose vehicle health and driving safety.

Oh Chang-hoon, Vice President of Mando, said, "We will continuously develop various remote predictive maintenance services by integrating automotive system expertise with IT technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), IoT, and cloud."
