Homeplus Holds 'Crab Festival'... 20% Discount

Homeplus Holds 'Crab Festival'... 20% Discount On the 3rd, models are showcasing products for the 'Crab Festival' event at Homeplus Gangseo Branch in Deungchon-dong, Seoul.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Homeplus announced on the 3rd that it will hold a 'Crab Festival' offering discounts on king crabs, lobsters, crayfish, and more.

To secure stable supply and price competitiveness, Homeplus pre-planned about 20 tons of stock, which is five times the usual amount. They put effort into maintaining freshness by delivering live king crabs, brought from Russia to Sokcho Port by cargo ship, and lobsters flown in from Canada, to all stores via live fish trucks.

The 'Jumbo King Crab' (Russian origin, around 2.5kg) is offered at a 20% discount for Samsung Card payment customers, priced at 143,200 KRW per crab. The regular price is 179,000 KRW per crab. Canadian lobsters are also available. The 'Jumbo Lobster' (around 1kg) is sold at a 20% discount for 47,920 KRW. The 'Live Lobster Set' (about 450g each, 3 lobsters) and the 'Cooked Lobster Set' (about 450g each, 4 lobsters) are priced at 49,900 KRW and 39,900 KRW respectively.

Homeplus is holding this event because customer demand for new ingredients that can create a dining-out atmosphere at home is increasing, leading to higher sales of premium ingredients that were previously enjoyed mainly at restaurants. According to Homeplus, the proportion of lobsters in total live shellfish sales from October to November increased by 20 percentage points from 24% last year to 44% this year.
