[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 3rd that it will begin recruiting tenants for the last quarter of this year’s Happy Housing from the 14th.

This recruitment targets a total of 5,269 households across 16 districts nationwide, including 4,223 households in eight complexes in the Seoul metropolitan area such as Seoul Suseo A1 and A3 blocks, and 1,046 households in eight complexes in local areas such as Daejeon Doan3 H-1 and Busan Gijang A3 blocks.

In particular, this announcement includes Happy Housing in newlywed hope towns aimed at providing a "child-friendly residential environment" for newlyweds and others, supplied in three locations: Seoul Suseo, Namyangju Byeollae, and Hwaseong Dongtan 2. The 199 households in Seoul Suseo A3 district are located within a 10-minute walk from Suseo Station, where the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 3 and Suin-Bundang Line pass, and are also close to Munjeong Station and Jangji Station on Line 8. Nearby, there are abundant residential conditions such as Samsung Seoul Hospital and Garak Market, and together with the A1 district (830 households), this is the first Happy Housing supplied in the Gangnam area of Seoul, expected to attract significant interest from newlyweds.

Namyangju Byeollae A25 district (128 households) is located between Byeollae Station on the Gyeongchun Line and Byeollae Byeolgaram Station (scheduled to open) on the Jinjeop Line, making commuting to Seoul convenient. Additionally, childcare and nursing facilities reflecting newlywed preferences, such as a comprehensive childcare center and communal childcare rooms, will be established within the complex. Hwaseong Dongtan 2A-104 district (390 households) is adjacent to Dongtan 1 New Town and is evaluated to have abundant living convenience facilities. It is close to the SRT Dongtan Station and Gyeongbu Expressway, major transportation networks, and also boasts excellent natural environments such as Byeongbongsan, Hyojebong, and Sinrichon.

In three districts?Seoul Yangwon S1 (924 households), Hwaseong Bibong A2 (440 households), and Daejeon Doan3 (360 households)?priority supply will be given to small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) workers according to the government’s "Job-Linked Support Housing Promotion Plan." Fifty percent of the supply for youth and newlyweds will be prioritized for SME workers. Additional points will be awarded based on the length of employment at SMEs, expanding housing opportunities for workers at these companies.

Applications will be accepted from the 14th to the 23rd through the LH Application Center website and mobile application. The announcement of successful applicants is scheduled for April next year.

LH will also operate on-site applications for internet-vulnerable groups such as the elderly. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the number of visitors will be staggered, and quarantine rules such as providing hand sanitizers and maintaining appropriate distancing will be strictly followed.

Applicants can use the "Happy Housing Self-Diagnosis" on the LH Application Center or My Home Portal before applying to check eligibility based on income and assets. For more details, refer to the LH Application Center announcement or My Home Portal, or contact the My Home Call Center.

An LH official stated, "Once the recruitment for the fourth quarter is completed, LH will have supplied a total of 19,083 Happy Housing units across 48 locations nationwide this year," adding, "We will continue to lead the realization of stable housing for the public through continuous supply of Happy Housing next year."
