Confirmed COVID-19 Case Among Daejeon CSAT Supervisors... 19 Supervisors Urgently Replaced

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] In Daejeon, a college scholastic ability test supervisor was confirmed positive for COVID-19, leading to the urgent replacement of 19 exam supervisors from the same school.

According to Daejeon City and Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education on the 3rd, a man in his 30s living in Gwanpyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu (Daejeon case number 512) and his son (Daejeon case number 513) were confirmed positive for COVID-19 the previous afternoon.

Among them, case number 512 is a teacher at a local high school and had been assigned as a supervisor for the college scholastic ability test.

The quarantine authorities recognized this fact and immediately requested the Metropolitan Office of Education to prevent teachers assigned as test supervisors from the same school as case number 512 from entering the test site.

Accordingly, the Metropolitan Office of Education conducted an epidemiological investigation and identified 18 teachers who had close contact with case number 512, excluding them from the test supervision duties.

Additionally, substitute supervisors for these teachers (the confirmed case and close contacts totaling 19 people) were assigned from pre-designated reserve supervisors.

The school where case number 512 works is also designated as a test site for the college scholastic ability test. Therefore, the quarantine authorities conducted an emergency disinfection operation the previous day and plan to proceed with the test at the school as scheduled. A total of 36 test supervisors are assigned to the school.

Meanwhile, cases 512 and 513 showed COVID-19 symptoms such as fever on the 30th of last month and were confirmed positive after undergoing diagnostic tests at a screening clinic on the 2nd.

Currently, the quarantine authorities are conducting COVID-19 diagnostic tests on the 18 teachers who are believed to have had close contact with case number 512.
