Warm Winter Fund Donation Ceremony and Christmas Tree Lighting in Front of Seongbuk-gu Office
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced on the 1st that the Seongbuk-gu Church Association (President Pastor Gil Seong-woon · Seongbok Central Church) donated 5 million won in sponsorship funds for vulnerable groups as part of the Warm Winter Project.
The Seongbuk-gu Church Association proactively decided to hold online (video) worship services in February to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and donated 15 million won in sponsorship funds for low-income groups, setting a good example in the religious community through their neighborly love sharing campaign.
When a cluster infection originated from a church in August, the Seongbuk-gu Church Association held an emergency meeting and resolved to suspend all face-to-face gatherings and conduct online (video) worship services to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In particular, in September, the 'Seongbuk-gu Zero Face-to-Face Worship Campaign' was launched to provide technical equipment and personnel necessary for video worship services and support rental fees for small churches that found it difficult to hold non-face-to-face worship due to lack of manpower, technology, and rental costs.
As a result of the campaign led by 11 churches including Seongbok Central Church, rental fees were supported for 21 churches in Seongbuk-gu, and video technology support was provided to 14 churches.
In this way, the Seongbuk-gu Church Association has continuously built a cooperative relationship with Seongbuk-gu throughout the year to prevent the local spread of COVID-19.
Gil Seong-woon, President of the Seongbuk-gu Church Association, said on the day, “We hope that the sponsorship funds will be delivered to the vulnerable elderly in the district so that they can live healthily with winter supplies and living expenses, and we deliver the small sincerity of the Church Association to Seongbuk-gu.”
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the president and executives of the Seongbuk-gu Church Association who generously donated sponsorship funds for neighbors who are easily marginalized due to COVID-19. We will focus administrative power to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at a serious stage so that everyone can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”
Following the donation of funds by the Seongbuk-gu Church Association on the day, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held on the first floor in front of Seongbuk-gu Office. The tree will remain lit until early next year to comfort the hearts of residents suffering from difficulties due to COVID-19.
