[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at a possible bid for the 2024 presidential election, according to a report by U.S. political media outlet The Hill on the 1st (local time).

According to the report, at a Christmas reception hosted by the White House that evening, President Trump said, "It has been an amazing four years," adding, "I am trying to do four more years, and if that doesn't happen, I will see you again in four years."

This statement is interpreted as meaning that if his attempt to overturn the election fails, he plans to run again in four years.

The remark became known after a female member of the Republican Oklahoma branch posted a video of the event on Twitter.

In the video, a large Christmas tree is installed in the middle of the White House Cross Hall, the venue, and most of the densely gathered attendees were not wearing masks.

Although Trump's figure speaking at the podium was not captured due to the tree, his amplified voice through the speaker was clearly recorded in the video.

Another attendee also streamed the event live on Facebook.

This is not the first time President Trump has expressed his intention to run for the presidency again in four years.

Local media Daily Beast reported on the 29th of last month, citing three sources, that President Trump, unwilling to accept the election results, had discussions with aides and close associates about the possibility of running again in four years and details about launching a campaign.

After reviewing the video of the event broadcast that day, the Associated Press reported, "The president continued to make baseless claims of election fraud and alleged that the Department of Justice was covering up evidence of election fraud."

In the video, President Trump said, "This year is definitely a very special year. We won the election, but they don't like it," adding, "I call this election fraud, and I will continue to do so."
