[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The People Power Party criticized President Moon Jae-in's nomination of lawyer Lee Yong-gu, who is not from the prosecution, as the new Deputy Minister of Justice, saying it "shattered even the last hope by appointing a reliable 'ally'."

On the 2nd, Kim Ye-ryeong, spokesperson for the People Power Party, said in an oral statement, "It seems the Moon administration is determined to remove the Prosecutor General."

Spokesperson Kim emphasized, "Former Deputy Minister of Justice Lee Yong-gu has coordinated prosecutorial reforms with Ministers Cho Kuk and Choo Mi-ae, and is a genuine 'person of the regime,' even being mentioned as a candidate for the first head of the high-ranking public officials' crime investigation agency from the ruling party."

He added, "Then he added the absurd claim that it will be 'resolved fairly and neutrally,' once again confirming the president's perception detached from public sentiment," and warned, "If even the president tries to go against justice and common sense, a greater tsunami of public opinion will follow."
