Dongui University AI Grand ICT Research Center Signs Agreement with Heungil Enterprise and Ditas
Joint Use of AI Training Data ... Accumulating Multi-Facility Human Behavior Data
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Robots are roaming the Dong-Eui University campus library. The robots analyze the movements of library users, such as walking, through video and accumulate data.
This data is utilized as valuable information to predict and assess human behavior in public places with high foot traffic, such as multi-use facilities. It is an example of artificial intelligence and robots entering and actively working in human domains.
These robots were deployed in this library on October 1st following the launch of the AI learning data construction project in September, attentively observing human activities.
Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center (Director Jeong Seok-chan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for “Joint Use of AI Learning Data” with Heungil Corporation (CEO Yoon Han-saeng) and Ditas (CEO Yoon Soo-geun) on December 1st at 11 a.m. in the small theater on the first floor of Dong-Eui University Central Library.
Through this agreement, each institution will cooperate on △ Establishing utilization plans for AI learning data △ Verifying the usability of constructed learning data and jointly using the data △ Mutual joint research and program development △ Information exchange related to AI learning data △ Cooperation in various projects and event execution.
This agreement was made as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “AI Learning Big Data Construction Project,” with Heungil Corporation, Ditas, and Dong-Eui University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation jointly collecting “robot-perspective driving video AI data.”
The project aims to collect driving video data to train autonomous driving robots at Dong-Eui University Central Library and to use the collected driving video data to further enhance the intelligence of autonomous driving robots.

Jeong Seok-chan, Director of Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center (Professor of e-Business), said, “In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the use of robots that become intelligent and autonomously support human tasks will expand increasingly,” adding, “As these autonomous driving robots become more intelligent and automated, users and managers of public facilities such as libraries will be able to receive services more conveniently.”
Since being selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “Grand ICT Research Center Public Contest Project” this year, the Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center has been laying the foundation for the “AI Future City Busan” by developing AI-based intelligent innovative convergence technologies based on the industrial demand of the Busan region and fostering specialized personnel since July 1st.
By 2027, a total budget of approximately 18.75 billion KRW will be invested, including 15 billion KRW from national funds, 1.5 billion KRW from Busan city funds, and 2.25 billion KRW from Dong-Eui University funds.
