[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that it has expanded the Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project to contribute to the improvement of elderly welfare, having provided customized jobs for 1,311 seniors and achieved high satisfaction among participants.
This project aims to increase the income of the elderly while ensuring a healthy old age through social activities. As a result, this year, 25 projects of various types such as public interest type, social service type, market type, and employment referral type have been developed, with 1,311 participants.
The senior job project has also greatly helped the local community. Through the festival site management project, Gyeommyeon Mokhwa Park and Seokgok Daehwanggang Sports Park were maintained, contributing to widely promoting Gokseong to tourists.
The Nono Care Project plays a role as a community-based care service by checking on vulnerable elderly living alone.
While promoting the senior job project, Gokseong-gun also focused on securing the safety of participants. A representative example is the establishment of a system with team leaders and dedicated personnel for senior jobs in each eup and myeon to strengthen participant management.
In addition, safety education of more than 12 hours annually was conducted for each workplace in cooperation with local driving schools and medical centers. Furthermore, more than two meetings per year are planned to reflect participants' opinions in next year's projects.
Participant satisfaction is also high. In a satisfaction survey on the Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project conducted last October, over 95% responded that they were satisfied with items such as salary level and activity hours. Most also expressed their intention to continue participating when asked about ongoing participation.
The county showed efforts to prevent income disruption for elderly participants by additionally paying 30% of the salary in gift certificates, regretting that the senior job project was suspended for a considerable period due to COVID-19.
