Jongno-gu Launches Youth Literary Education Using Yoon Dong-ju Literature Kit

District conducts career exploration program delivering 'Dongju wa Byeol Heneun Bam' literary kits to youth... Kits include poet's poetry collection, writing tools, and more

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) is providing 300 middle school students participating in the free semester system within the district with the 'Dongju and the Night Counting Stars' literature kit to offer diverse career exploration opportunities, conducting a career exploration program utilizing online educational content.

The 'Dongju and the Night Counting Stars' literature kit, produced by the Yoon Dong-ju Literature Museum, consists of the poet's poetry collection, writing instruments, and more.

It was created to support learning about the life and works of Yoon Dong-ju, a national poet and independence activist.

The district operates a 'career exploration-type arts education program' that provides related experiential opportunities for students who want to learn more deeply about the field of literary creation using the kit.

This program proceeds by accessing videos related to the poet via the 'Dongju and the Night Counting Stars' QR code, taking out the poetry collection from the kit to read, and writing favorite poems in a notebook. Through the process of reading and copying the poet's works together, education related to manuscript paper formatting and other fields is provided, and participants are encouraged to write letters to the poet or response poems, adding a special touch.

Jongno-gu aims to enhance creativity and provide career exploration opportunities for youth through this pilot program using the literature kit.

Additionally, in response to the COVID-19 situation, infection prevention measures such as QR code access are implemented, and various ways to appreciate Yoon Dong-ju's works will also be suggested.

Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, “Through 'Dongju and the Night Counting Stars,' implemented for the first time this year, I hope that young people can participate in quality literary education while adhering to social distancing,” and added, “We will continue to expand career exploration programs introducing various occupations to youth.”
