The companies targeted for the consultation meeting were recruited through POSCO International’s ‘Global Marketing Collaboration Portal,’ established for cooperation with small and venture companies, and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development. A total of 25 promising companies in fields such as artificial intelligence, bio-health, smart city, eco-friendly, and manufacturing, which possess excellent technological capabilities but face difficulties entering overseas markets, were selected.
Based on its accumulated global network and diverse business experience, POSCO International provided practical consulting necessary for overseas expansion during the consultation meeting, including overseas marketing, dispute resolution and export contract drafting, export-import finance and foreign exchange transaction law, export and cargo insurance, and international taxation.
POSCO International and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development plan to continuously support startups’ overseas demonstration project opportunities and small and venture companies’ overseas market development by establishing a public-private cooperation model. Furthermore, POSCO International intends to provide various solutions for the success of promising startups and excellent small and venture companies and to explore future growth engines through collaboration with startups possessing outstanding ideas and technological capabilities.
Jusibo, President of POSCO International, said, “Through public-private cooperation, we have established a foothold for domestic companies with capabilities to target overseas markets and make greater leaps,” adding, “By combining the know-how of large corporations and the excellent ideas of startups, we will create a healthy industrial ecosystem even amid difficult environments such as COVID-19 and continue to practice the philosophy of ‘Corporate Citizenship.’”
Kim Kwanghyun, President of the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, stated, “Due to COVID-19, digital transformation such as non-face-to-face businesses and cooperation between large corporations and small and venture startups has become more important than ever,” and added, “We hope that the overseas expansion consultation meeting held online will serve as an opportunity for our small and venture startups to widely enter overseas markets despite difficult circumstances.”
