Seoul Reports 193 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Total 18 Cases Confirmed at Gangnam-gu English Academy

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The daily number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul is approaching 200 again.

As of midnight on the 2nd, Seoul City announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Seoul area increased by 193 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 9,159. This is the third highest daily number following 212 cases on the 25th and 204 cases on the 26th of last month.

At a language institute located in Gangnam-gu where a cluster infection was confirmed the previous day, the number of confirmed cases increased by 9 in one day, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 18. Additional confirmed cases were reported at a home shopping company in Mapo-gu with 5 cases (cumulative 18), a hospital in Gangseo-gu with 4 cases (cumulative 31), a high school in Guro-gu with 3 cases (cumulative 11), and a company in Nowon-gu with 3 cases (cumulative 12).

One additional confirmed case was also reported at each of the following locations: a church prayer place in Dongjak-gu (cumulative 14), Sauna II in Seocho-gu (cumulative 74), an indoor sports facility II in Jungnang-gu (cumulative 26), Cheongryeonsa in Dobong-gu (cumulative 25), a hospital in Gangseo-gu (cumulative 31), and an acting academy in Gangnam-gu (cumulative 23).

There were 90 cases involving contact with other confirmed patients, 14 cases from other cities and provinces, 1 imported case from overseas, and 58 cases with infection routes under investigation.

So far, 6,625 people in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 2,441 are currently in isolation and treatment. The number of people in self-quarantine after entering the country or coming into contact with confirmed patients is 20,418.
