Bando Construction Wins 22.3 Billion KRW Contract for Bucheon Dongseong Apartment Reconstruction

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Bando Construction announced on the 2nd that it was selected as the reconstruction contractor at the general meeting of the Dongsung Apartment Reconstruction Project Association in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province on the 28th of last month.

Dongsung Apartment, located at 247 Yeokgok-dong, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, will be reborn as an apartment complex consisting of two buildings with 6 to 15 floors and 115 households through the reconstruction project. The construction cost is approximately 22.3 billion KRW, with construction starting in September 2022 and scheduled for completion in October 2024.

This apartment reconstruction site is a double station area within a 10-minute walk from Yeokgok Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1 and Onsu Station served by Lines 1 and 7. Nearby schools include Donggok Elementary, Yeokgok Elementary, Middle and High Schools, Wooshin Middle and High Schools, and Sejong Science High School. The living infrastructure, including large supermarkets, banks, markets, and community support centers, is well established along with neighboring apartment complexes. In 2024, a mini new town with 5,500 households is scheduled to be occupied on the nearby Yeokgok Andongne site.

A Bando Construction official said, "It seems that Bando Construction's product competitiveness and construction capabilities were highly evaluated during the contractor selection process," adding, "We will create a residential complex with high resident satisfaction by leveraging the unique strengths and know-how of Bando Yubora."

Meanwhile, Bando Construction is accelerating business diversification with steady orders not only in redevelopment projects but also in the public sector. Recently, it has shown achievements in the public sector beyond its core housing business, including winning the largest single supply development site in the Goyang Janghang District from Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), public land for development near Singyeongju Station (2 plots), apartment contract work in Okpo-dong, Geoje, Busan North Port redevelopment project waterfront park construction, military facility construction, and Ajou University dormitory construction.
