[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgi Na Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 3rd that it will hold ‘ICT InnoFesta 2020’ at COEX in Seoul.

ICT InnoFesta is a platform for small and venture business stakeholders who have contributed to the development of the information and communication technology (ICT) industry over the year to be recognized, and to discuss the outlook and response measures for the startup environment in the ICT field. This year, it is held under the theme ‘Expansion of the Untact Market, Another Opportunity for the ICT Industry.’

The event will begin with a keynote speech by Song Gil-young, Vice President of VIVE Company, followed by an awards ceremony, ICT seminars, startup investment attraction presentations, and business consultations for ICT small and venture companies.

At the awards ceremony, the ‘Korea ICT Award’ will be presented to innovative companies that have contributed to the development of the ICT industry in three fields: 5G, intelligent information, and ICT innovation (job creation, overseas expansion, new growth, welfare). Model ICT small and venture businesspersons and contributors to the creation of the ICT startup ecosystem will receive the ‘Information and Communication Small Business Development Merit Award’ and the ‘ICT Venture and Small Business Revitalization Merit Award,’ respectively.

At the ICT seminar, domestic ICT startup experts such as Hyun Kyung-min (CEO of Connecting Lab), Lee Kyung-jeon (Professor at Kyung Hee University College of Business & Department of Big Data Applications), and Han Jung-hee (Director of Industry-Academic Cooperation at Hongik University Sejong Campus) will discuss topics such as ‘Digital Transformation Trends and Business Strategies of ICT Companies’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence Business Models.’

At the startup investment attraction presentation, 10 companies that advanced to the finals among 30 companies participating in the ‘K-Global Startup Contest’ will introduce their core technologies and seek investment. Choi Kwang-seon, CEO of The Innovators, will give a special lecture on startup investment attraction strategies.

At the business consultation, 11 ICT small and venture companies will hold business consultations with the three major telecommunications companies (KT, SK Telecom, LG U+) for commercialization cooperation.

Park Byung-jin, Director of the Information and Communication Industry Infrastructure Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, “Despite the COVID-19 crisis, the Korean economy is holding up centered on the ICT industry, and the mid- to long-term outlook for the domestic ICT industry is bright,” adding, “The government will also provide various support so that ICT small and venture companies, which are the foundation and future growth engine of the ICT industry, can overcome and resolve difficult environments.”

This year, due to the impact of COVID-19, both offline and online events will be held simultaneously. Interested citizens, businesspeople, and investors can participate and watch on YouTube and KakaoTV.
